European steel plate producers increase offers on higher slab costs

European steelmakers increased their heavy steel plate prices this week, to compensate for rising slab costs, sources told Metal Bulletin.

Southern Europe Southern European mills have increased official offers of heavy plate to €570-600 ($680-715) per tonne ex-works. The rise was driven by higher slab costs as well as by seasonal demand recovery. Deals have been done at the unchanged price of €550-560 per tonne ex-works. As a result, the weekly domestic price assessment for grade-S235JR heavy steel plate in Southern Europe was unchanged at €550-560 per tonne ex-works...
