The Chinese ferro-silicon price softened this week as supply tightness was eased by resumed production in Ningxia province and Inner Mongolia.
China’s domestic spot price for ferro-silicon, basis 75% Si, dropped to 7,500-8,500 yuan ($1,153-1,307) per tonne on September 8, down 5.9% from 8,000-9,000 yuan a week ago.
Hesteel (Hebei Iron & Steel) increased its monthly purchase price for ferro-silicon, basis 72% Si, to 8,950 yuan per tonne for September delivery up from 6,780 yuan a month ago, according to market participants.
