Southern European domestic coil prices inch up as import costs rise

Domestic prices for steel coil in Southern Europe have picked up slightly over the past week with higher offers on imported material and a slight increase in demand, sources told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday September 13.

“Suppliers [from outside the EU] have increased their offers. Although there is no real demand for imports due to long delivery times and the uncertain short-term outlook, it really sets a mood in the market,” a trader said. Buyers have also been hesitant about looking for imported coil because the outcome of an anti-dumping case against hot rolled coil (HRC) from Russia, Ukraine, Brazil...
