Base metals

Following the ousting of former Philippine environment minister Regina Lopez, nickel ore supply fears had subsided for a few months, but uncertainties have returned again after the government renewed calls for an export ban. 

First Quantum Minerals’ Kansanshi complex and Sentinel copper mine in Zambia are expected to resume normal operations next week following the completion of scheduled maintenance and the resolution of a power supply dispute. 

Chile’s state-owned copper producer Codelco has reached an agreement for a new collective contract with the supervisors’ union at its Radomiro Tomic mine.
