US steel tube import probe applies margins up to 36% on China, 8% on India

US imports of cold-drawn mechanical tubing from China have been assessed with double-digit subsidy margins, with those from India in single digits, according to a preliminary determination by the US Department of Commerce issued on Tuesday September 19.

Initial subsidy margins on imports from China range from 33.31% to 35.69%, while preliminary margins on Indian goods were set between 3.04% and 8.09%. The ruling applies to carbon and alloy steel (cold-drawn mechanical tubing) of circular cross-section in diameters of less than 331mm (about 13in).
