Peru’s copper, zinc output grows in August

Both copper and zinc production in Peru increased in August on an annual comparison, according to figures from the country’s energy and mines ministry, MEM.

Peruvian copper production in August was 3.8% higher than last year, boosted mainly by higher volumes from Cerro Verde and Antamina mines. Copper output totalled 209,091 tonnes in August, compared with 201,482 tonnes in August 2016. Freeport-McMoRan’s Cerro Verde produced 46,174 tonnes of copper in August, up by 10% from the year before.
