South America's coil import prices drop suddenly on lower Chinese offers

Import prices for steel coil products in South America have edged downward this week, following the end of the week-long National Day holiday in China.

China-origin flat steel offer prices started the week at higher values than those reported in the week before the break, but prices have fallen quickly since then. “I had expected more stability after the holiday, and prices to start going down only by the end of this week, or even next week,” a South America-focused steel trader said. “The market moved quicker than I did.” Metal Bulletin’s weekly price...
