China’s stainless steel prices rise on bullish outlook for NPI

China’s domestic stainless steel prices rose sharply this week on expectations of higher nickel pig iron (NPI) charges, although some market participants voiced concerns over rising supply.

Metal Bulletin’s assessment of prices for benchmark 304 stainless cold rolled coil was 15,300-15,800 yuan ($2,322-2,398) per tonne including VAT in the major market of Wuxi for the week ended Thursday October 13, up 500 yuan per tonne from two weeks earlier.
