SE Asia billet prices down on volatile China futures

Billet import prices in Southeast Asia fell by $10 per tonne in the week ended Monday October 16 as volatile steel futures in China damped spot trading values, Metal Bulletin has heard.

China-origin mill offers were $530 per tonne cfr into Southeast Asia from traders, inviting bids at $520 per tonne cfr from buyers in the region. India-origin cargoes were offered at $535 per tonne cfr. There were offers at $510 per tonne for Iran-origin billets, but these were not taken into consideration for the price assessment as they are not within Metal Bulletin’s assessment methodology specifications.
