Mexico again extends protective 15% import duty on steel products

The Mexican government has extended, for the fourth time, a 15% tariff imposed on imports of slab, hot rolled coil (HRC), heavy plate, cold rolled coil (CRC) and wire rod to protect the domestic steel sector.

The duty will be valid for a further 180-day period from October 18, according to a decision published by the economy secretariat in the country’s official gazette on Tuesday October 17.
