EUROPE ALLOY STEEL SCRAP: Prices rise further on nickel price strength

The UK inter-merchant price range for austenitic alloy steel scrap rose by £20-50 per tonne this week as the nickel price continued its recent rise, sources said on Friday October 20.

Metal Bulletin’s weekly price assessment for inter-merchant 18/8 scrap solids in the UK was £950-970 ($1,252-1,278) per tonne delivered on Friday. This compared with £900-950 per tonne on October 13. Prices as high as £1,000 per tonne were also heard earlier in the week, sources said.
