China’s refined copper output hits highest since December 2014

China produced 774,000 tonnes of refined copper in September, marking the highest monthly production volume since December 2014, according to data released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday October 24.

September’s volume is 6.8% higher year on year and 3.3% higher than August’s volume.
Historical data shows that China’s refined copper production in December 2014 was 833,000 tonnes.
The higher production was stimulated by the stellar rise in copper prices, a recovery in processing fees, as well as several smelters resuming production following maintenance shutdowns.
