Tata Steel keen on acquiring Essar Steel to double Indian steel capacity

India's Tata Steel has expressed an interest in buying debt-laden compatriot Essar Steel, as it would help with Tata's ambition to double its steelmaking capacity in the country, a spokesman told Metal Bulletin on Monday November 6.
