Vedanta plans to build world’s second biggest copper smelter

Vedanta will double smelting capacity at its 400,000 tpy Sterlite Tuticorin smelter in Tamil Nadu, India, by effectively building a replica version next to the present smelter.

The company has approved $717 million to spend on the project, which is expected to be completed by the third quarter of the 2020 financial year.
