Brazil's bauxite ore exports fall 40.5% in October on MRN production issues

Brazilian bauxite ore exports continued to fall in October after being affected by the significant decline in shipments from Mineração Rio do Norte (MRN).

The country’s exports totaled 703,174 tonnes last month, down by 40.5% from October 2016, according to figures from Brazil’s foreign trade ministry, MDIC. The volume is also lower than the September-2017 level of 780,364 tonnes. Such a decline is reflective of the production issues at MRN, Brazil’s largest bauxite producer.
