CIS STEEL SLAB: Prices tumble on stronger competition, lower demand

CIS export slab prices have dropped by $20-25 per tonne over the past week amid increased pressure from Brazilian and Iranian competitors as well as lower demand resulting from uncertainty in the finished flat steel products sector.

Metal Bulletin’s weekly assessment of the CIS export slab price was $460-470 per tonne fob on Monday November 13, against last week’s $485-490 per tonne fob Black Sea.
Ukraine-origin material was heard offered at $470-480 per tonne fob Black Sea, according to one source.
