Zhuzhou Smelter to build 300,000-tpy zinc smelting project

Zhuzhou Smelter, China’s largest zinc smelter, plans to build a new zinc smelting project with 300,000 tonnes per year of capacity, the company announced on Monday November 20.

The project will have an estimated initial investment of 5.07 billion yuan ($760 million) and is expected to be completed by the end of 2019, Metal Bulletin understands.

The 300,000-tpy project in Shuikoushan, in China’s Hunan province, is to set replace the company’s 450,000-tpy smelter in the Chinese city of Zhuzhou, also in Hunan, which will shut at the end of 2018.
