China boosts global crude steel output in October but downturn predicted for rest of year
Chinese crude steel production rose by 6.1% year on year in October, the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) said on Wednesday November 23, maintaining global growth in output.
But winter production cuts in China could result in slower growth over the rest of the year and into 2018.
Chinese crude steel output was 72.36 million tonnes last month, up from 71.83 million tonnes in September and 68.23 million tonnes in October 2016.
Producers continued to respond to robust steel product price gains over the past year.
