Strike action at Southern Peru Copper Corp enters third day

Unionized workers at Southern Peru Copper Corp (SPCC) have entered the third day of an indefinite strike over pay and benefits on Thursday November 23.

Yesterday, striking workers were blocking a company-owned train line used to transport concentrates from its mines to the smelter, but were surprised by a violent police response, union Sindicato Unificado de Trabajadores y Anexos (SUT-SPCC) said in a statement.
