MEIS 2017: Iran to cut steel import duties by 10%, but volumes unlikely to rise

The Iranian government recently announced that it intends to reduce import duties for steel products by 10%, Metal Bulletin has learnt during its 21st Middle East Iron & Steel Conference in Dubai.

The reduction is expected to come into effect next week, a source involved in flat steel exports to Iran told Metal Bulletin on the sidelines of the conference, which runs December 4-7.

Currently, the country applies a 15% import duty on semi-finished steel products, 20% import duty on hot-rolled coil (HRC) of gauge less than 3 mm and on cold-rolled coil (CRC), and 26% duty on...
