MEIS 2017: Emirates Steel forecasts rising rebar consumption, focus on diversification

Rebar consumption will continue to rise in the United Arab Emirates, according to the chief executive officer of the country’s biggest steel producer.

Emirates Steel CEO Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi was speaking in an interview with Metal Bulletin publisher Spencer Wicks at the 21st Metal Bulletin Middle East Iron & Steel Conference in Dubai on Wednesday December 6. Al Remeithi focused in the interview on the importance of diversification if his company is to remain competitive. Emirates Steel plans to include value-added products in its range of outputs and to focus on the downstream and upstream sectors, he said.
