Scrap import prices in Taiwan going strong amid tight supply

Import prices for containerized heavy melting scrap (HMS) in Taiwan have risen for a seventh consecutive week as supply continued to tighten.

Metal Bulletin’s assessment of import prices for United States-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) sold to Taiwan was $318-325 per tonne cfr for the week ending Friday December 8. This is up $10-13 per tonne compared with last week.
Negotiations for US-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) mostly took place within the assessed range. Cargoes were offered at $325-328 per tonne cfr Taiwan.
