Chinese tungsten prices jump up on strong overseas demand, raw material tightness

Chinese tungsten prices moved up in Metal Bulletin’s latest assessment, underpinned by consistent tightness in tungsten concentrates and increased purchases from overseas buyers ahead of the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays.

Ammonium paratungstate (APT) min 88.5% WO3 fob China prices rose 1.4% from the previous week to $298-301 per metric tonne unit (mtu) on Wednesday December 6, and ferro-tungsten min 75%, fob China prices followed the uptrend to $36.50-38 per kg W from $36.50-37.60 a week earlier.
