PEOPLE MOVES: Two managers leave MSC amid tin smelter relocation

The chief financial officer (CFO) and the commercial manager at Malaysia Smelting Corp Berhad (MSC) have left the company this month while the tin producer is relocating its Butterworth smelter from Penang to Port Klang, Metal Bulletin understands.

Au Soon Yong, group CFO since July 2017, left on December 12 to pursue other career opportunities, according to a company statement. He joined MSC in July 2016 as finance director from accounting and auditing firm KPMG.
Yap Kean Pang, who was the commercial manager and ran day-to-day business at the Penang-based international tin smelter, also left the company effective December 7, a company source told Metal Bulletin.

MSC is in the process of relocating its tin smelting operations from Jalan Pantai in Penang to Selangor in Port Klang. It has been refurbishing a lead smelter it bought in Port Klang to convert it into a tin smelter and could complete the project by mid-2018,...
