CIS PIG IRON: Buyers start to accept higher prices

Buyers of Commonwealth of Independent States-origin pig iron have started to book material in the export market at higher prices after suppliers increased offers in the beginning of December.

“Prices for scrap and coking coal are growing, so I can say that now the pig iron price increase is reasonable for the first time [in] over several months,” one trader told Metal Bulletin.
Metal Bulletin’s export price assessment for high-manganese pig iron from the CIS region was $345-370 per tonne fob Black Sea on Thursday December 14, widening from $350-365 per tonne fob Black Sea a week earlier.
