European ferro-chrome benchmark drops to $1.18 per lb for Q1 2018

The European charge and high-carbon ferro-chrome benchmark settlement has dropped 15% to $1.18 per lb for the first quarter of 2018.

The settlement was announced on Friday December 15 to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange by Merafe Resources, which runs a ferro-chrome joint venture with Glencore in South Africa.
The price is negotiated every quarter by a leading ferro-chrome producer and a major stainless steel consumer; usually Glencore and Aperam.
