South America's coil import prices stable ahead of year-end

Steel coil import prices in South America were unchanged this week, amid the arrival of the latest offers and reduced trading activity before the New Year holiday.

“Some customers count on a price reduction after the New Year,” a flat steel trader said. “But I personally would not bet on that.”
Metal Bulletin’s weekly price assessment for hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports into South American countries was stable week-on-week on Friday December 22, at $615-620 per tonne cfr, while prices for cold-rolled coil (CRC) imports were unchanged at $655-665 per tonne cfr.
