Chinese zinc metal imports doubled m-o-m in Nov; concentrates up 27%

China's refined zinc imports doubled in November from the previous month to 122,814 tonnes, while zinc concentrates imports rose 27% month on month, according to the latest Chinese customs data.

Domestic supply of refined zinc also stayed at an elevated level: Chinese refined zinc production in November reached a new high of 603,000 tonnes, compared with 577,000 tonnes a month ago, according to data from China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Particularly weak market conditions a year earlier meant that refined zinc imports were up an eye-popping 383% year on year.
Meanwhile, zinc stocks in Shanghai-bonded warehouses are expected to have risen in December.
