Strikes at Spain’s Megasa delay EU long steel deliveries, tighten market

Industrial action at Spanish steel company Megasa is causing disruption in European long steel markets with delayed deliveries and material supply tightening, sources told Metal Bulletin on January 17.

A proposed pay cut for workers has led to a series of work stoppages, lasting around 2 hours per shift, at Megasa’s site in Zaragoza, Northeastern Spain. The stoppages started on Friday January 12 and are expected to continue until Sunday January 28, according to the Confederación Sindical de Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) trade union.
