NIF’s zinc facility targeting full capacity in January

Noranda Income Fund’s (NIF’s) zinc processing facility in the Canadian province of Quebec is expected to achieve normal operating capacity by the end of the month, the company said on Friday January 19.

As of late December, all idled equipment at the facility, operated by Canadian Electrolytic Zinc Ltd, had been restarted. The facility had been operating at 50-60% of total capacity since union workers initiated a strike on February 12, 2017, over failed negotiations involving workers’ pension plans.
