NEWSBREAK: Indonesia's Gresik copper smelter to close temporarily due to technical problem

Indonesia’s Gresik copper smelter in eastern Java will shut down next week for up to ten days to resolve technical problems, well-informed sources told Metal Bulletin.

"There is a problem in the oxygen plant and they will need to stop the operation for some days next week," a source said on Wednesday March 28.

Mitsubishi Materials Corp, which has a 60.5% interest in the smelter, and Freeport, whose subsidiary PT Freeport Indonesia has a 25% stake, both declined...
