Brazil's alumina export volumes down by 12.9% in March

Brazil’s alumina export volumes fell 12.9% year on year in March, amid disrupted production and the force majeure at Hydro’s Alunorte alumina refinery.

The country’s shipments totaled 647,783 tonnes last month, compared with 743,454 tonnes in March 2017, according to figures released by Brazil’s foreign trade ministry, MDIC. The northern state of Pará, where Alunorte operates, accounted for 342,495 tonnes of alumina exports in March, down by 14% from a year earlier....
