US copper market enters May ready for rise in premium

The copper market in the United States is entering its seasonal peak period with the calendar turning to May, and while market participants haven't yet reported increased premiums a consensus is emerging of an impending rise.

Market participants have been awaiting a move in the premium for weeks, with May and June traditionally the highest activity months before the weak summer demand arrives.
