SOUTHERN EUROPE REBAR: Domestic price widens downward on continued weak demand

Prices for rebar produced and delivered in Southern Europe have widened downward by €5 per tonne over the past week, sources told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday May 9.

Market activity remained quiet because of public holidays in several European countries.
Metal Bulletin’s weekly domestic price assessment for rebar in Southern Europe widened downward to €490-520 ($582-618) per tonne delivered on Wednesday, compared with €495-520 per tonne delivered on May 2.
“Market activity is really low and steel producers need to sell material, so offers have weakened a little again,” one trader said.
