NEWSBREAK: Vietnam evaded US trade duties - US Commerce Department

The US Commerce Department has made a final determination that Vietnamese cold-rolled and coated coil made from Chinese substrate circumvents US duties on flat-rolled steel from China, market sources told American Metal Market.

Commerce was expected to officially announce the decision on Thursday May 17.
The decision upholds a preliminary ruling made in December.
“This was a straightforward case of circumvention, and we’re pleased that the Commerce Department is closing this loophole and effectively enforcing US trade laws,” Alan Price, who chairs Wiley Rein LLP's international trade practice, said in an email to American Metal Market on Thursday.
