Two Glencore Beijing executives allegedly detained by China over lead waste imports

Two Glencore employees are among those that Chinese authorities have detained as part of a nationwide series of arrests relating to the import of illegal waste products, three sources with knowledge of the matter told Metal Bulletin.

One of the detained is Hu Qiang, a senior trader of zinc and lead concentrate at Glencore in China, three sources claimed. Glencore declined to comment officially on the claims when contacted by Metal Bulletin on Thursday May 24 and Friday May 25. Calls to Glencore's Beijing office were not returned.
