GULF STEEL BILLET, REBAR: Local rebar prices up, Iran questions keep billet imports flat

Domestic steel rebar prices in the United Arab Emirates rose this week, with producers optimistic about demand, while uncertainty over trade with Iran kept billet import prices flat, sources told Metal Bulletin on Tuesday May 29.

The biggest steel producer, Emirates Steel, is now offering rebar at 2,295 dirhams ($625) per tonne ex-works. This is up from 2,223 dirhams per tonne, which had been the price since April 25.
