EU introduces ‘stronger, more effective’ trade defense rules

The European Commission (EC) is to introduce new trade defense rules that will come into force on June 8, it said on Thursday June 7.

All new investigations initiated on or after Friday of this week will be subject to the updated anti-dumping and anti-subsidy rules.
The changes are intended to modernize the EU’s trade defense tools and will allow it to impose higher duties in some cases by changing the use of the lesser duty rule (LDR) and shortening the investigation period to accelerate the procedure.
