EUROPE PLATE: Domestic prices down in south on slow trading

Domestic prices for heavy steel plate have decreased over the past week in Southern Europe under pressure from slow trading, sources told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday June 13.

Demand has been slow because buyers have sufficient stocks of material, market sources said. “Buyers are not interested in making new deals for bigger volumes of plate because they have enough material in their stocks, and mills [in Southern Europe] will have to decrease offers to boost demand,” one trader said.
