CIS STEEL BILLET: Price downtrend persists amid lack of activity

CIS export billet prices continued to decline in the week ended Monday July 16 amid reduced buying activity in the major sales outlets.

Additional pressure was being exerted by decreasing import scrap prices in Turkey as well as the possibility of steel import quotas being implemented by the European Union.
Metal Bulletin’s CIS billet export index went down across the $500 per tonne threshold to $499 per tonne fob Black Sea on Monday July 16, a fall of $3 per tonne day-on-day.
