Construction continues to boost Japanese steel demand in May

The construction segment continued to boost Japan’s steel demand in May, according to statistics released by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF) this week.

Total construction steel demand increased by 7.7% to 942,000 tonnes. This includes civil engineering works demand of 196,000 tonnes, which is an increase of 3.6% year on year.
