Alcoa workers on strike until Aug 17 in Australia; ali price up 3%

Alcoa workers have gone on strike in Western Australia due to a breakdown between the company and Australian Workers’ Union (AWU) officials representing the workers.

AWU tweeted earlier today: “1,200 alumina members turned out in Pinjarra Western Australia today to oppose Alcoa’s attempt to terminate their agreement.” The industrial action will continue until August 17 but the company said its sites have contingency plans to ensure they can continue to operate during industrial action.
