Pig iron export price from Brazil set to fall on high output, low uptake

The pig iron export price from Brazil may soon go down due to higher production and a weak market in the United States, sources told Metal Bulletin on Friday August 10.

A pig iron producer in northern Brazil, which restarted operations in July, was heard selling 25,000-30,000 tonnes of pig iron to the US at $405 per tonne cfr. The price would be close to $390-393 per tonne fob. The supplier will ship the cargo in October, combining it pig iron from July-September production. The producer only has capacity to make around 10,000 tonnes per month. Another supplier from the north also sold 10,000 tonnes...
