LKAB restarts ore, pellet deliveries after fire on railway line to port

Swedish state-owned iron ore producer LKAB has restarted pellet deliveries after a fire on the railway line connecting its Kiruna mine in northern Sweden to the Norwegian port of Narvik forced deliveries to be suspended, a company spokesman told Metal Bulletin on Tuesday August 14.

LKAB declared force majeure on deliveries to some buyers after the incident on August 8, but this was terminated at midday Swedish time on August 13 and deliveries have now restarted, Markus Petäjäniemi, LKAB’s senior vice president of sales and logistics, said.
