BHP submits new Escondida contract proposal

Union workers at BHP's Escondida mine in Chile - the largest copper mine in the world - have received a new contract proposal from the company, a union representative told American Metal Market.

"We have concluded the conversations with the company. We have received a proposal - that we believe meets the conditions - to be presented to the assembly of the membership of our union, in order to decide their acceptance or rejection," Union No 1 said in a statement on Wednesday August 15.
