GULF FLAT STEEL IMPORTS: Some prices increase despite weak demand

Some flat steel import prices in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have increased over the past week, despite demand remaining poor, sources told Metal Bulletin on Tuesday September 11.

Some small deals were heard in the UAE, but sentiment was still not positive.
Demand may improve if new construction and infrastructure projects are announced, market participants believed, but they do not expect any big projects to be started in the short term.
Hot-rolled coil (HRC) was offered at $600-610 per tonne cfr from China and at $600-605 per tonne cfr from India.
