TURKEY FLAT STEEL: Some prices down but demand starts upturn

Sentiment in Turkey’s flat steel market improved late in the week ended Friday September 14, with some product prices coming down, sources told Metal Bulletin.

And the Turkish lira has started to regain some of its lost value since the country’s Central Bank increased interest rates on September 13. The lira has lost a significant amount of value since early August, when political tension between Turkey and the United States worsened and US President Donald Trump doubled to 50% his country’s Section 232 import tariff on steel from the Middle Eastern country.
