INDIA IMPORT SCRAP: Prices inch upward before market slows down

Prices for ferrous scrap imported into India have edged upward by $2 per tonne over the past seven days, with deals being completed earlier in the week before the market slowed down due to currency issues, sources told Metal Bulletin on Friday September 14.

Metal Bulletin’s weekly index for containerized imports of shredded scrap into India increased to $356.52 cfr Nhava Sheva on September 14, marginally up from $354.60 per tonne cfr Nhava Sheva a week earlier. Offers and some deals for shredded material originating from the EU, the UK and the United States were reported at $350-362 per tonne cfr Nhava Sheva. “We are in negotiation.
