Asian slab market quiet amid buyers’ bearish sentiment

Import prices for steel slab in Southeast Asia and East Asia were flat over the past week due to a lack of transactions, with buyers holding back from further procurement in hopes of lower offers.

Metal Bulletin’s assessment of import prices for slab in Southeast Asia and East Asia was $520-535 per tonne cfr for the week ended Monday September 17, unchanged from a week earlier.
No deals were reported during the week.
“The market was very quiet, and there were only a few negotiations [over the week],” a South Korean industry source said.
