CHINA HRC: Export trading sparse over the week

There was sparse trading in China’s export hot-rolled coil (HRC) market this week, with weak demand while buyers hold a ‘wait-and-see’ market sentiment, sources told Fastmarkets MB.

Prices of HRC dropped slightly on Friday October 12, with export prices falling amid some short-selling offers. Yet, trading was active in the domestic market, sources said. Domestic Eastern China (Shanghai): 4,220-4,250 yuan ($610-615) per tonne, widening 10 yuan per tonne at both ends. Northern China (Tianjin): 4,110-4,120 yuan per tonne, down 20-30 yuan per tonne.
